The Oneness of Mankind in itself is a unifying vision. No longer are we considered to be of different species, just by looks alone. We are of course one huge big family, living in a huge home called earth. Mankind is so unique, and so diverse, yet we have the power to be fully united and working together for the betterment of the whole of mankind. "The earth is but one country, and mankind it's citizens." is not to be taken lightly. Baha'u'llah taught us this from the middle of the 19th century. It is totally disunifying to consider a race of people as non-human. Even science is proving that a false assumption. The prejudices we have about other cultures and peoples have to be destroyed if we are to have any mesaure of unity in our midst. Another photo brought this thought to mind.
My thought patterns are all over the place today, but i share with you some of my thinking on this topic. When your son or daughter went to school for the very first time, they were taught one plus one equals two. This child was not taught at University level. This little soul was taught at the level of its understanding at the time. Ultimately of course the child you have you hope will attend University, but there are lots of classes he or she will have to enter and learn from during their journey towards adulthood.
Mankind is much like that too. Could we have known or appreciated the concept of Unity in Diversity lets say in a time when there was very few people on earth? Oh don't worry, we did learn a lesser form of it in the concepts of Family unity, tribal unity, city state, nationhood, etc,. However, wasn't it more logical to leave those teachings for a time when mankind was not only covering the earth, but to a time when mankind was far from united, and waring with one another on a vast scale?
Time of course stands still for no man. As we grow and develop our spiritual skills, and our physical senses take on a whole new meaning, we learn a higher and higher form of knowledge. Each of God's Messengers brought a different level of unity to mankind. In some we learned about the soul, in others we learned about the Spirit, in yet others we learned about Loving our fellow human beings, in yet another we learned about Unity and in this Day we are learning about Oneness of all things. We are progressing towards a more united society, and we can either choose to ignore this, or help build it. I know which side I want to be.
